Bootable Mac OS X Installation USB Windows

In the following instruction, we show specifically how to make a Mac OS X bootable installation USB from El Capitan.DMG, Yosemite.DMG, Maverick.DMG or any OS X older versions on Windows PC.

Basically, you need two things: A MacOS X.DMG (or.ISO) and TransMac software.

Initially it tells me my 16gb is not big enough, its a 5gb DMG! more over, it takes forever to complete the process of formatting with transmac on windows then writing the image, not a few minutes as you say. Then at the end it fails and says it cant write to the stick, essentially when its done ie 100% – tried it in my MacBook air mid 2011 and I get an apple logo with a spinning wheel – any ideas?

Did not work. I got a DMG of the last release of El Capitan and it *did not make the USB bootable*. I also got a DMG of the non-Beta release of Sierra and after all the formatting and copying with TransMac, OS X says there’s nothing on the USB.

Gee, thanks for all the PUA/PUP addware infections in that link you posted. Beware the download, if it’s “aceinstaller” delete that crap. Little Snitch warned me about these perps trying to connect through port 80: installwizz, silvinst, and others, I naively allowed them and some unwanted apps started to pop-up in my mac folder, like mplayerX. had to do a thorough sweep to clean my mac.
